Mr. Skeele Has Passed Away

Those of you who are on Facebook are probably already aware of this sad news. Mr. Skeele passed away on August 14th at the age of 92. He had been living in Medford OR for the past several years.

Here is a link to an article that talks about his later years. I suspect that many of us had him for at least biology and have our own fond memories of him.

As a teacher and person they don’t come any better.

The Leuzinger Legend

I saw this YouTube video posted on Facebook. Those of you who are Facebook followers probably have seen it. For those who are not on Facebook, here is the link.

The Leuzinger family was very prominent in the Inglewood/Hawthorne/El Segundo area throughout the first part of the twentieth century.  Leuzinger High School in Lawndale is named after Adolf Leuzinger.  This video depicts the family and farm that was located at the intersection of Aviation Blvd. and El Segundo Blvd.

Wes to Help Rededicate the Leuzinger Torch

I just received this email from Wes. This could be a fun game to attend.

Hi Don, Thought you might be interested to know that
Stephanie Iland , the activities director  from Leuzinger and I have been in contact about the upcoming home coming football game on October 4th.  She would like to have me rededicate the torch before the kick-off approx. at 7:00pm being that is it the 50th anniversary.  The game is between Hawthorne and Leuzinger…..Should be a fun event and  thought maybe you could get the work out in case others from our class would like to attend.

50/60s Theme for Our 50th Reunion?

I received an email suggesting that we adopt a 50/60s theme for our upcoming 50th Reunion, including dressing in the style of clothes we wore during high school. We could come dressed as surfers, hodads etc. Ths person had recently attended a  50/60s party and everyone really liked the idea and had a lot of fun with it.

We are already planning for the music of the evening to be Oldies But Goodies, so a having a 50/60s Theme would fit right in. However, if we were to adopt the theme, dressing the part would be totally optional. The reunion committee thought that this should be decided by the class as a whole.

I have included the poll below. Please take a moment to voice your opinion, even if you are unsure right now whether or not you will be able to attend the reunion.  The poll will be active through Sunday, January 20th. The poll also allows you to add any comments you may have.

Let us know what you think!

An Apology

I discovered tonight that about fifteen comments that were submitted during the past couple of months were never posted. The website is supposed to send me an email whenever anyone submits a comment. I then go on-line and approve it. Apparently, I have something set up wrong. I never got the emails.

I will take steps to make sure that is does not happen in the future.
