Leuzinger High School Alumni Now Have Their Own Facebook Group (Posted 2-15-09)
Vickie Canulli Bianco (’66) has been very active over the years in many Leuzinger Alumni activities, including the annual Memorabilia Day. She is a frequent contributor to the Leuzinger Message Board on Classmates.com.
To augment some of the shortcomings of Classmates, Vickie is starting a Facebook Group. If you are interesting in joining, the information is shown below. As I am sure you are aware, Facebook is one of the largest and fastest growing social neckworking sites on the internet.
Leuzinger High School – Class of 1950s, 60s,70s and any other alumni that wants to join us.
Today, I have newly created our private FACEBOOK Group. It is primarily open to the class years listed above… but we will take friends from other class years if they come recommended by any of our members here.
Where can you find it? Here is the link:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=53245831226
If you have a problem, contact me.
You must sign up with FACEBOOK to participate. And you must be invited or approved by your administrator (me) to join in. BY the way, when sign up, please include your maiden name and the year you graduated.
In my opinion, judge for yourself…………..
Those that have already joined believe that recommending FACEBOOK is a fantastic idea. It is a great way to get connected with friends/classmates and convenient to stay in touch.
You determine and control how much or how little information you’d like to disclose about yourself. You determine who you are directly connected to in the network of friends. You have the option to send a private, personal message. It’s all good and fun.
We have an untapped potential here that we don’t have with Classmates.com.
The difference between the two is Classmates.com is not free. You can sign up for free, and people can see your entry, but if they want to actually contact you or read anything you’ve entered, they have to be a paid member. Similarly, if they send you a message, you have to be a paid member to read it. Everywhere you look, there are upgrade messages, and a bunch of things that you can’t do unless you upgrade.
Then along comes Facebook.com, and does roughly the same thing but better and free. Now FACEBOOK is one of the most popular sites anywhere, while Classmates.com continues to ask me for money. See that boat floating away from you, Classmates.com? That’s Facebook.com riding on a ship called “Opportunity”. Looks like you missed it.
Once again, for those of you who are interested… join us. Vickie (veggievic@aol.com)
Look forward to cummunicating with classmates.
Hi Jerry,
How have you been?
I am feeling guilty that I somehow did not follow through.
